Neighborhood Surveys

Funded by both State of Florida and federal grants with matching funds from DHT, these survey projects which focus on documenting the architectural, cultural and environmental heritage of areas in our community help inform residents and elected officials about the historic significance of neighborhoods. The survey documentation also provides a roadmap for moving forward with potential historic designation and zoning considerations to ensure preservation of our community’s historic resources.  DHT- funded surveys include:

Miami-Dade County’s Brownsville Neighborhood – to be completed in 2024

The Village of El Portal – to be completed in 2024

Dade Heritage Trust is also advocating for preservation through federal historic designation of Miami’s Overtown neighborhood and is awaiting final determination by the State of Florida and the National Park Service.
