Every year, Dade Heritage Trust recognizes a homeowner who takes great pride in owning and maintaining their historic home. Bob and Marc live in a lovely mid-century modern home on NE 94th Street in Miami Shores. The house was designed by architect Wahl J. Snyder, who arrived in Miami in 1936 set on designing homes whose features would bring the outdoors inside. Wide overhands, screened-in “original style” Florida rooms, and long openings in living areas, as well as clerestory windows and built-in furnishings were all signature features of Snyder’s design sense. Due to the rising trend of tear-down homes in the area, Bob and Marc requested local historic designation of their home last year, making it the first Miami Shores home to be locally designated in over twenty years, and the first modern structure to be recognized.
