Aviation, agriculture, industry, design, and the swinging 1920s. This is the origin story of the City of Opa-locka, Miami-Dade County’s eighth oldest municipality located in the northern part of the county just south of Miami Gardens. The bike tour, presented by Dade Heritage Trust and Opa-locka Preservation Association, starts at the very beginning of Opa-locka’s founding. From the days of American aviator Glenn Curtiss purchasing land for the benefit of conservation, then to be developed into a uniquely themed city, to the military’s presence at the Opa-locka Airport. Tours start at the Opa-locka Tri-Rail Station located at 480 Ali Baba Avenue. Click here to Registry
