Key Keeper Award

Each year, Dade Heritage Trust presents the Key Keeper Award to a homeowner who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to preserving and caring for a historic residence.
This year’s award, presented at the recommendation of Miami-Dade County Historic Preservation Chief Sarah Cody, honors Laura Shearon and Erick Cruz for their restoration of the historic 1914-Wheeler House on Erwin Road. The couple purchased the home in 2019 from descendants of the original owners and completed its restoration in 2024, thoughtfully preserving an important piece of Miami-Dade’s architectural history.
