Dade Heritage Trust is honored to recognize the Miami-Dade County Office of Historic Preservation for its commitment to inclusive and community-driven preservation through two powerful documentation projects:
Goulds Historic District Re-Survey
In 2024, with support from a state preservation grant, the County returned to Goulds to complete a long-overdue reexamination of the historic district—this time including Black Goulds. The survey documented 258 historic resources, honoring the rich and resilient legacy of a community shaped by segregation, strength, and continuity.
The History Collaborative
Launched in 2023, this annual storytelling program partners with Miami-Dade Public Libraries and HistoryMiami to capture the lived experiences of our communities. Their May 2025 event highlighted the voices of Miami-Dade’s migrant farming community.
We salute the Office of Historic Preservation for its leadership in building a more complete, connected, and inclusive narrative of Miami-Dade’s past.
