DESCRIPTION:Aviation\, agriculture\, industry\, design\, and the swinging 1920s. This is the origin story of the city of Opa-Locka\, Miami-Dade County’s eighth-oldest municipality located in the northern part of the county just south of Miami Gardens. Co-presented by the Opa-locka Preservation Association and Dade Heritage Trust\, the tour starts Opa-locka’s story in 1925. From the days of American aviator Glenn Curtiss purchasing land for the benefit of conservation\, then to be developed into a uniquely themed city\, to the military’s lasting presence at the Opa-Locka Airport. \nThe tour is free but registration is required. Wear comfortable shoes\, and bring water. Guests are required to sign a liability waiver on the day of the bike ride. The experience begins promptly at 11 a.m. and starts at the Opa-locka Tri-Rail Station located at 480 Ali Baba Avenue\, Opa-locka\, Fla. 33054. Parking is free.
