DESCRIPTION:Baking in Historic Places is a series presented by Dade Heritage Trust and a creative (and delicious) way to introduce participants to some of Miami’s most beautiful historic venues. We use their kitchen and create baked goods under the guidance of our baker-in-chief\, Lucia Meneses.  \nOn Saturday\, August 3 we head to Fruit and Spice Park in the Redland to bake some lovely French pastries using fruits from the Park. Our baking events include a continental breakfast\, all of the ingredients you’ll need\, plus complete instructions and a tour of the Park!  Events sell out quickly! Admission includes drinks and light bites. \nOur September 28 talk is about The Commodore Trail\, a bike trail that begins in Brickell and ends in the south Grove! The talk will be accompanied by an exhibit about the trail\, its history and future. \nBike Coconut Grove has initiated this project designed to engage the community in helping to achieve the major goal of completing the Commodore Trail. This neglected five-mile recreational facility has the potential to be Coconut Grove’s crowning jewel\, but it’s a mess–and in many places it’s dangerous for all users. Our Urban Miami Bike Tours provide amazing opportunities to learn about new places and historic spaces throughout Miami.  \nAll tours begin at Dade Heritage Trust\, 190 SE 12 Terrace\, unless otherwise noted. Dade Heritage Trust does not provide bikes. Riders must bring their own bikes or rent a citibike nearby.   Riders must be experienced and confident enough to navigate urban Miami streets.  \nBrownsville is a Miami-Dade County neighborhood with significant historic and cultural sites\, including the HIstoric Hampton House\, Lincoln Memorial and Evergreen Cemeteries\, Georgette’s Tea Room and more. This traditional African-American neighborhood offers a glimpse of the days of segregation in Miami and has amazing stories to tell. DESCRIPTION:Baking in Historic Places is a series presented by Dade Heritage Trust and a creative (and delicious) way to introduce participants to some of Miami’s most beautiful historic venues. We use their kitchen and create baked goods under the guidance of our baker-in-chief\, Lucia Meneses.  \nOn Saturday\, November 9\, we will bake a sweet camp-themed treat at the historic Mess Hall in beautiful Camp Greynolds in Greynolds Park in North Miami. Free parking and a tour of the park. Greynolds Park is a Miami-Dade County Heritage Park and it is extraordinary! \nAll supplies are included\, aprons too! DESCRIPTION:Baking in Historic Places at The Bakehouse Art Complex – SOLD OUT – register for future Baking events! \nThe Bakehouse is located at 561 NW 32nd Street in Miami.  Founded in 1985 by and for artists in a former industrial Art Deco-era bakery\, Bakehouse Art Complex provides studio residencies\, infrastructure\, and community to enable the highest level of artistic creativity\, development\, and collaboration for the most promising talent. The Bakehouse is comprised of approximately 100 resident and associate artists\, deriving from a rich diversity of backgrounds. Their work represents a broad range of media and practices\, from painting to performance\, from traditional to experimental.  \nOn February 1\, our resident baker\, Lucia Meneses will lead a workshop on baking sourdough bread.  All participants will mix\, shape and bake their own loaves. While the bread is in the oven\, the Bakehouse staff will introduce artists in residence and lead a tour.
