For 83 years, HistoryMiami Museum has and continues to ensure the community’s stories are safeguarded and captured to foster learning and inspire a sense of place. Sharing the stories of our diverse, vibrant, storied city is how we discover connections and build community. Over the last eight decades, HistoryMiami has amassed more than 30,000 treasures in its eclectic Object Collection, more than 3.2 million items, and 1,300 linear feet of books, periodicals, photographs, and more in the museum’s Special Collections catalog, comprised of paper based and archival materials. Through exhibitions and programs, the museum provides perspectives and context about our collective history and how we can use it to navigate our present and architect our future. As the steward of the city’s history and collector of Miami stories for more than 83 years, HistoryMiami Museum embodies the story of a vibrant and complex city claiming its rightful place in the national discourse of the American experience.  HistoryMiami builds bridges of understanding, celebrates our differences, and honors our shared humanity. In doing so, the museum continues to foster positive transformations, bring light to local struggles for social justice, and invite everyone in greater Miami to work with us in creating a better, stronger, more multifaceted community. The museum is currently exploring how it can provide better ways to share Miami stories in a new permanent home, a world-class museum where all Miamians feel welcome and represented. Dedicated to preserving our shared history, HistoryMiami is working to build a premier cultural amenity for the understanding and celebration of all things Miami – a museum that is future ready and reflects the dynamic and ever-changing nature of this city.
